Ingredients for smoothies for type 2 diabetes

A smoothie should be healthy, so sugar (or honey!) Has no place in the list of ingredients. What counts is the natural sweetness and the pure taste.

Anyone who likes milky smoothies (which, strictly speaking, are not “smoothies”, but rather “mixed milk drinks”) should make sure to use low-fat dairy products so that the healthy drink does not become a calorie bomb!

Magnesium deficiency promotes the development of diabetes and, in the case of existing diabetes, can lead to poor sugar levels and consequential damage to the heart and blood vessels. Magnesium deficiency can even prevent the healing that is possible in many cases.

A smoothie that is good for people with type 2 diabetes should therefore consist of a lot of vegetables, be without sugar or milk and also provide a supply of magnesium. We have something for you!

Kale Smoothie

Spinach and Banana Smoothie

Spinach is one of the leafy vegetables that are particularly rich in magnesium. The banana is a particularly good source of magnesium among the fruits . Nuts and kernels generally provide a lot of magnesium, but also fat.

Although the fat in nuts is much healthier than animal fats, it still contains calories. So include nuts in your diet, but not more than 1 handful per meal, because weight loss is and will remain the best remedy for type 2 diabetes!

How good that these magnesium sources taste so delicious in combination! You need:

  • 150g fresh spinach leaves
  • 1 fully ripe banana
  • 125ml water
  • 1 teaspoon almond butter

Pour all of the ingredients into a stand mixer, blender or tall mixing vessel and grind everything into a creamy smoothie. If you don’t have almond butter, you can also use ground almonds from the baking ingredients.

Weight loss smoothie

Kohlrabi and cress smoothie

Like most types of cabbage, kohlrabi is also rich in magnesium. Cress not only tastes delicious on bread and butter or with cheese, it is also a good source of magnesium and can be made into a smoothie with kohlrabi. You need:

  • ½ kohlrabi
  • ½ box of cress
  • 1 banana
  • 150ml cold water

    The banana provides the sweet note and the creamy consistency. Cut the kohlrabi into very small pieces if your stand mixer does not have enough power / watt or grate it quickly on a vegetable grater before preparation.
